Ambulance paperwork. Life-saving UX and UI.

Can you take away frustration and save time of EMS workers who save lives under high pressure, but also need to keep the necessary paperwork up to date?

No more administrative hassle, but high-tech software to support our ambulance staff.

- Enigmatry

Challenge.

For ambulance workers, every second counts. That requires lightning fast and extremely accurate action. All those actions must then be administered. The system used by a consortium of Regional Ambulance Services (RAV) was no longer up-to-date. Ambulance staff had to perform too many unnecessary administrative actions in an outdated and slow system. Moreover, it no longer met today's privacy requirements. According to our client, this could and should be done better. A task that presented us with a great challenge that we knew in advance would require a lot of extremely specific customization.

Solution.

A revolutionary tailor-made digital kilometer registration form and back office system full of cleverness. That is the result of the valuable input that ambulance staff gave us themselves. In practice, the new system proves to be of enormous added value. Moreover, the users feel very involved with the tool that they actually co-developed with us. They now save a lot of time and have more space for the important core tasks that really matter in and around an ambulance.

Customer Engagement.

Developing enigmaCare is perhaps one of the largest and most compelling projects we've had the pleasure of doing in recent years. Ambulance care in the Netherlands is quite unique. Patients are not only transported in the ambulance, they are also medically taken care of. That requires a strict protocol. According to those regulations, all (medical) actions in the ambulance must be registered. There is a lot to be taken into consideration when it comes to all this.

Analysts insist that patient privacy is guaranteed. But the ambulance workers themselves have very different priorities. An example: at the end of a journey, an ambulance employee previously had to enter the distance of the transport himself in the digital system. That takes a lot of time, they said. With that insight, we came up with the idea of having the ambulance's GPS automatically process and administer this type of data.

And so there are many other things worth knowing that, thanks to the collaboration with the users, we have been able to implement them into enigmaCare. For us, building enigmaCare was one big lesson in how essential it is to involve people from the professional field in a project.

Years ago we chose Enigmatry. The fact that our product was given the name enigmaCare says something about our collaboration. Quality and no nonsense.
